Kleinfontein moves towards formalisation with new township application

Kleinfontein Extension 1 is moving towards formalization following the submission of a comprehensive land development application. According to Kleinfontein spokesperson Dannie de Beer, the city complied with a court order issued on August 4th. The court ordered Kleinfontein to settle outstanding amounts owed to the City of Tshwane within 60 days. De Beer confirmed these amounts have been settled.

The application will formally designate the area as Kleinfontein Extension 1, located east of Tshwane. The settlement imposes development restrictions on Kleinfontein, and the community promises to work closely with Tshwane officials to finalize the process swiftly.

However, Tshwane councillor Lex Middelberg doubts the legitimacy of the consent order, claiming it was obtained to evade taxes unlawfully. He believes the matter could be dismissed and stresses that the order was not a condition for Kleinfontein's current application to become part of Tshwane.

Freedom Front Plus Tshwane mayoral candidate Willie Spies, on the other hand, sees no issue with the court's decision. The dispute was between Tshwane and the Kleinfontein share block, and both parties consented to the settlement. Spies emphasizes that the community, including Kleinfontein, plays an important role in Tshwane's cultural diversity. The community has already submitted its formal application for township establishment on August 31st, adhering to the court order, and will strive for formal establishment.
