Johor dengue cases jump 131pc to 9,954 as infections rise across districts

Johor has witnessed a staggering 131.3% surge in dengue cases this year, with 9,954 cases reported as of Epid Week (ME) 34, compared to 4,304 cases during the same period last year. Health and Environment Committee Chairman Ling Tian Soon reported that 4,520 cases, accounting for 45.4% of the total, were reported from outbreak localities, while 5,434 cases, or 54.6%, were from non-outbreak areas.

During ME34 alone, 664 dengue fever cases were recorded, marking a 2% increase from the previous week's 651 cases. Of these, 308 cases, or 46.4%, were reported in outbreak localities, while 356 cases, or 53.6%, were from non-outbreak areas. Johor Bahru recorded the highest number of cases in this week, with 495 cases, or 74.6% of the total, followed by Kulai with 120, Batu Pahat with 19, Segamat with nine, Kota Tinggi with seven, and Muar and Pontian each with four cases.

Additionally, a total of 13 dengue-related deaths were recorded up to ME33 this year, compared to 8 deaths for the same period in 2025, a significant increase of 62.5%. Throughout the year, 3,745 compounds with a total value of RM1.87 million were issued through enforcement activities, with 80.2% of them being paid.
