iQiyi turunkan enam episod ‘Madu atau Racun’

iQiyi has temporarily removed six episodes of the drama "Kacip atau Racun" following concerns over content, according to Finas Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib, the CEO of the streaming platform. The remaining six episodes will be delayed until all 12 episodes can be edited and reviewed. Finas stated that iQiyi and the production company have apologized, accepted criticism, and agreed to work together to improve the content.

The editing process will adhere to guidelines set by the Film Censorship Board (LPF) and the Communications and Multimedia Malaysia Content Board (CMCF). There is no specific timeframe for when the drama will be relaunched, but it will depend on the production company and iQiyi's new version. The censorship and content aspects are not under Finas' control, as per the Finas Act, which covers filming activities, labor inspections, production companies, and movie ticket sales.

The Multimedia Communications and Multimedia Authority (SKMM) currently regulates internet and television networks, while the framework for regulating OTT content is still being drafted. Finas is also exploring the possibility of adding extra requirements to the SPP certification for international platforms, including OTT and YouTube.

Recently, Communications and Multimedia Minister Zulkifli Hasan stated that his department rejects the airing of the drama and is unhappy with elements that touch on religious sensitivities and local cultural norms. The 12-episode drama, produced by MIG Production Sdn Bhd and directed by Eyra Rahman, features Aliff Aziz, Uqasha Senrose, and Elisya Sandha, and began airing on iQiyi on August 14th.
