iQiyi turunkan enam episod ‘Madu atau Racun’

iQiyi has temporarily withdrawn six episodes of the drama "Madu atau Racun," while the remaining six will be delayed until the entire 12-episode series is edited and reviewed. Finas Executive Director Saifuddin Mutalib announced the decision following a meeting with iQiyi and the production company, following the directive of Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

The company apologizes, accepts criticism and feedback, and seeks input to improve the drama's content. The studio and distributor are responsible for editing the content according to guidelines from the Film Censorship Board (LPF) and the Multimedia and Communications Content Forum (CMCF) before all 12 episodes are reviewed by the relevant panel.

No specific timeframe for the resumption of airing the drama has been set, as it depends on the production and iQiyi's submission of a revised version for evaluation. Once the panel is satisfied with the revised version, it will be allowed for public viewing. Editing and content are not within Finas' jurisdiction under the Finas Act, which covers activities such as filming, labor inspections, production companies, and movie ticket sales.

The Multimedia and Communications Authority (SKMM) currently oversees internet and television networks, while the framework for regulating OTT content is still under discussion. Finas is, however, exploring the possibility of adding additional requirements to the Producer Accreditation Certificate (SPP) to enable action against production companies if their content causes distress or undermines religious, ethnic, or community harmony sensitivities.

Previously, Communications Minister Zulkifli Hasan stated that his ministry rejected airing the drama and expressed dissatisfaction with elements that touch on religious sensitivities and local cultural norms. The 12-episode drama, produced by MIG Production Sdn Bhd and directed by Eyra Rahman, features Aliff Aziz, Uqasha Senrose, and Elisya Sandha, and began airing on iQiyi on August 14.
