Intensive search under way for 9 Koreans missing in Nepal floods

A Korean disaster relief team, known as the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT), has arrived in Nepal to aid in the search for nine missing Koreans and others affected by recent floods and landslides. The 44-person team, comprising representatives from the Korean government and international organizations, touched down in Kathmandu on Wednesday aboard an Air Force KC-330 Cygnus plane.

The KDRT's mission is to collaborate with Nepali authorities and a separate government emergency response team, conducting search-and-rescue efforts for the next approximately ten days, though the deployment may be prolonged depending on site conditions. Among the resources the KDRT is bringing are five rescue dogs and advanced equipment such as high-resolution drones, devices capable of detecting victims buried under debris through sound and video, and thermal imaging detectors. The nine Koreans disappeared after severe floods struck Nepal's Rasuwa district on August 26th.
