Infantino calls for stronger structures in Nigerian football

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has emphasized the need for robust structures and pathways to bolster Nigerian football during a meeting with a delegation from the National Sports Commission (NSC). The talks, held at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, aimed to align goals for the development of football in the country. Infantino highlighted the necessity of creating stronger frameworks and opportunities, particularly for young talents, to further ignite the passion for the sport in Nigeria.

The meeting follows a significant reform process initiated by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after the mass resignation of the federation's executive committee and President Bola Tinubu's call for urgent action. Both FIFA and the NFF have pledged to collaborate on a comprehensive roadmap for reforms, targeting a cohesive new administration and a stable environment for the growth of the sport.
