Im Sung-jae to compete at Presidents Cup as captain's pick

Korean PGA Tour veteran Im Sung-jae will participate in the upcoming Presidents Cup as the International Team's captain's pick. Geoff Ogilvy, the team's captain, chose Im and five other players on Tuesday (U.S. local time). The six selected players joined six automatic qualifiers who made the roster based on their world rankings.

The Presidents Cup is a biennial match play event where the International Team competes against the U.S. team. This year's tournament will take place at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois, from September 24 to 27. Im will join three other Koreans on the team: Kim Si-woo and Tom Kim. Both Kim Si-woo and Tom Kim were among the six automatic qualifiers, with Kim Si-woo holding the top spot at No. 13 in the latest world rankings.

Im, currently ranked No. 57, has been one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour since claiming the Rookie of the Year award in the 2018-2019 season. After missing the first two months of this year due to a wrist injury, he has since posted five top-10 finishes in 22 starts.
