Have Arsenal's challengers done enough?

Arsenal have begun the new Premier League season with two victories as the transfer window closes, appearing well-positioned to defend the title they claimed for the first time in 22 years last season. This leaves fans wondering if their main rivals, Manchester City, have done enough to prevent the Gunners from securing a second consecutive championship.

The transfer business for the Premier League largely wrapped up by January, with significant changes at Manchester City. Manager Pep Guardiola left after 10 years and was replaced by Enzo Maresca, while key players such as Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Jack Grealish, Savio, Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzales, James Trafford, Nathan Ake, and Tijjani Reijnders all departed.

Despite these departures, City rebounded with a flurry of high-profile signings. They paid £125 million for Enzo Fernandez, the British transfer record, along with £116 million to bring England midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest. The club also acquired Morocco's 18-year-old Ayyoub Bouaddi for £85.6 million from Lille, as well as Iliman Ndiaye from Everton for £65 million.

Additionally, Allan Elias from Palmeiras in Brazil was signed. In total, these transfers have cost City £458 million for a single transfer window, surpassing Liverpool's £415 million spending from the previous summer. However, City have also made £300 million worth of player sales this summer, showcasing the significant turnover at the start of the post-Guardiola era.

Despite these changes, City still possess considerable talent, indicating they are in a strong position to mount a serious challenge for the title.
