GWC Group strengthens cold chain supply into Qatar through Oman frozen bulk vessel operations

Doha, Qatar - Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC Group), a leading logistics provider in the region, has successfully completed its first frozen bulk vessel operation in the Sultanate of Oman, extending its cold chain capabilities to cross-border distribution. This operation strengthens GWC Group's capacity to deliver frozen goods into Qatar, creating an additional route for temperature-sensitive cargo.

Handling frozen goods typically arrives in standard containers, necessitating specialized cold chain expertise throughout the process, from vessel offloading to temperature-controlled storage and onward distribution. This operation ensured uninterrupted temperature integrity from port to warehouse, securing GWC Group a larger commission for the largest frozen bulk vessel operation to date.

The customer's subsequent award of a long-term cold storage contract signifies the Group's expanding relationship from vessel handling to ongoing storage and regional distribution. GWC Group has also begun transporting frozen poultry products by road from Barka in Oman to Qatar and Kuwait, adding over 1,000 truckloads of frozen cargo to the GCC market.

Matthew Kearns, GWC Group CEO, emphasized the significance of this operation, stating that it demonstrates the company's regional network's ability to connect capabilities in Oman with established infrastructure in Qatar, thereby creating new routes for temperature-sensitive goods into Qatar and enhancing supply chain resilience. As GWC Group expands across the GCC, its operations are increasingly functioning as one network, connecting markets and bolstering the regional cold chain infrastructure.

Haitham Al Rawahi, General Manager of GWC Oman operations, highlighted the importance of strict temperature control for frozen bulk vessel handling, from port offloading through storage and cross-border transportation.
