Gown inspired by 7 Layers of C-section: Story behind Miss World Uganda’s striking look

At the Miss World 2026 World Designer Award in Vietnam, Miss Uganda 2026 stunned everyone with her couture gown named Layers of Life. This gown pays homage to the seven anatomical layers encountered during a C-section, offering a unique perspective on childbirth and the physical journey of new mothers. The designer, Keesha Abdallah, was inspired by her personal experience as a new mother and aimed to create a fresh and original design that brings the miracle of childbirth to life.

Dr Preety Aggarwal, Medical Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Motherhood Hospitals, praises the gown as a "creative and meaningful" way to explain the complexities of a C-section. She explains that a C-section is not just a simple incision, but a multi-layered surgical procedure involving various tissues. Dr Priyanka Sonawane, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, adds that the gown offers an accessible visual explanation of the tissues involved in the surgical journey, but cautions that the seven layers mentioned in the design are a simplified representation of the actual procedure.
