Ghana Horticulture Expo 2026 opens Thursday to drive investment in agriculture

Ghana's Horticulture Expo 2026 kicks off on September 3rd, 2026, bringing together key stakeholders from various sectors of the horticulture industry. The three-day event, organized by the Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE), aims to promote investment and growth in Ghana's horticulture and non-traditional export sector. Under the theme "From Soil to Sovereignty," President John Dramani Mahama is set to officially open the expo alongside ministers and other key decision-makers.

The expo serves as a platform for businesses and producers to showcase their products, establish partnerships, access financial opportunities, and gain insights into the latest developments within the horticulture value chain. Head of Projects and Programmes at FAGE, Emmanuel Ansah-Amprofi, emphasizes FAGE's commitment to assisting producers and exporters in reaching international markets with standard and world-class products.

The non-traditional export sector, encompassing a wide range of products beyond fruits and vegetables, will be prominently featured at the expo. About 29 farmer and producer associations, along with businesses involved in processing, value addition, packaging, certification, marketing, and exports, will participate in the event.

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with producers and businesses, explore potential partnerships, and learn about the requirements for developing products suitable for both domestic and international markets.

The opening day of the expo will feature the official ceremony, ministerial engagements, exhibitions, and sector presentations, including a presentation on the tomato sector and a panel discussion on building a self-reliant economy through agriculture and related industries. On Friday, the focus will shift to finance and exporter financing, with Fidelity Bank playing a significant role in the discussions on scaling businesses, opportunities for exporters, and challenges in accessing finance.

Saturday's activities will be particularly targeted towards youth, women, and students, aiming to expose them to opportunities within agriculture and encourage greater participation in the sector. The expo will serve as a marketplace where the general public can purchase a variety of locally produced goods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, mangoes, pineapples, coconuts, mushrooms, nuts, processed agricultural products, cosmetics such as shea-based products and essential oils, and handicrafts.

Additionally, a live catfish point and grill, along with products and services from agricultural input suppliers, will enhance the event's appeal.
