This figure represents a significant rebound, with Musk's wealth increasing by $202 billion in a single month after a $363 billion drop in July. The surge was primarily driven by gains in the value of Musk's stakes in SpaceX and Tesla.

The top 10 list is led by Musk, who is just $110 billion away from attaining trillionaire status, a milestone he achieved earlier this year. Following Musk, the world's second-richest person is Larry Page, the co-founder of Google, whose fortune stands at $277 billion. Page's wealth experienced a decline of $15 billion in August, making him the biggest loser among the top billionaires for that month.

Other notable figures in the top 10 include Jeff Bezos, with a net worth of $268 billion, Sergey Brin at $256 billion, and Michael Dell at $241 billion. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, ranks ninth with $197 billion, while Larry Ellison, the co-founder of Oracle, is tenth with $193 billion. The biggest gainers among the top 10 are Oracle's co-founder Larry Ellison, whose fortune increased by $25 billion, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, whose wealth rose by $17 billion, despite slipping to eighth place.
