Friends swept away while trying to save drowning teen

At Tanjung Lompat beach in Bandar Penawar, a rescue attempt to save a 16-year-old boy from drowning tragically resulted in the loss of three more teenage friends. The incident occurred this morning when the group, consisting of 16 teenagers, went to the beach to camp during their school holidays. Among the group, a boy who wished to remain anonymous recounted the events.

He explained that Thaqif Rayyan Rumainoor, also 16, ventured further from the group while swimming and became unable to be heard when they called for him. Struggling in the water, Thaqif's friends initially left him for a moment but quickly realized his distress when they returned. Several teenagers rushed to help, but the strong waves made the rescue efforts difficult.

As a result, three more teenagers were swept away and drowned. The group's leader expressed hope that the ongoing search and rescue operations would swiftly locate the missing boys, including Mohamad Haiman Fitri Supian, Muhammad Adib Hafiy Kamal, and Thaqif himself. According to the New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd, Thaqif's body was discovered at 1:25 pm as the rescue efforts continued.
