2027: Akwa lbom Police Stages Show of Force

In a strategic display of security measures prior to the 2027 general elections, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command conducted a comprehensive show of force and confidence-building operation in Uyo, the state capital, on February 28, 2027. The initiative aimed to instill confidence in the public and underscore the command's readiness to uphold peace and security during the electoral period.

The operation, which encompassed deployment of personnel, patrol vehicles, and other assets across key areas, was orchestrated by the State Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare. Addressing officers involved, Azare emphasized the command's commitment to preventive policing, strategic deployment, and sustained visibility to deter potential political violence and ensure the safety of all citizens.

Reiterating the command's impartial stance, Azare assured residents and stakeholders that the Police would remain professional and non-partisan, safeguarding the electoral process and the rights of every law-abiding individual. However, he sternly cautioned against political thugs and those inciting violence, warning that such actions would not be tolerated and would face severe consequences.

The CP specifically addressed the youth, urging them to refrain from being recruited or manipulated by political forces for violent activities, stressing that their future should not be compromised by such pursuits. He also cautioned against unlawful possession of weapons, attacks on political opponents, destruction of campaign materials, and other forms of disruption to lawful political activities.

Azare urged political parties, candidates, and supporters to conduct their activities peacefully and cooperate with the police and other security agencies to maintain public order. He directed that political parties give adequate notice for rallies and processions to facilitate adequate police and traffic arrangements.

The command's show of force is not a singular event, according to Azare. Similar operations, including intelligence-led patrols, raids, and confidence-building activities, will continue across the state as needed. The Akwa Ibom State Police Command remains committed to collaborative efforts with other security agencies, political stakeholders, traditional and religious institutions, youth organizations, the media, and the public to ensure a peaceful and secure environment before, during, and after the 2027 General Elections.
