FCT roads, rail have improved residents’ quality of life – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has asserted that the quality of life for residents in Abuja has enhanced under President Bola Tinubu's leadership, highlighting the rehabilitation of the rail system and the construction of roads throughout the territory. During a media briefing in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Wike addressed criticisms of the government's performance and refuted the notion that residents should be judged solely by the number of houses they own.

He explained that measuring quality of life by housing ownership is flawed, as not everyone has a home. Wike emphasized that quality of life extends beyond mere housing, pointing out that not every citizen possesses a residence. He questioned why the improvement of life should depend on every household having a house. "Quality of life is not about housing because everybody does not have a house.

Why do we have to think that until everyone has a house, the quality of life has not improved?" Wike questioned. He further stated that the roads constructed by the FCT administration have significantly improved residents' quality of life by facilitating access to areas previously unreachable. "Have the roads we have provided in the FCT not improved quality of life? People can now access where they could not access initially," Wike asserted.
