Eren Yeager's English Voice Actor Literally Dislocated His Jaw to Pull Off One of Attack on Titan's Most Iconic Moments

Bryce Papenbrook, the English voice actor for Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan, revealed that he physically dislocated his jaw during a recording session in Season 2 to bring an intense betrayal scene to life. This particular moment, revealed in Ep 20 of Season 2, saw Eren speaking with fellow Scouting Legion recruits Reiner and Bertholdt, who admitted they were the Titan-shifters who broke through the wall in the past.

This betrayal resulted in untold deaths and Eren's mother's tragic death. Known for portraying Eren's sadness over their betrayal, Papenbrook dislocated his jaw physically for this scene, explaining, "I literally unhinged my jaw before that take, because I wanted that pain to come through." Fellow voice actor Cristina Vee was stunned by this revelation, asking if he had done it on purpose.

Papenbrook confirmed, "Yeah, physically pushing my jaw out of place to force pain into the feeling." His dedication to the role impressed fans, with many praising his commitment, even if they prefer the original Japanese version of the anime. Attack on Titan's game, Attack on Titan 3, is set to launch on December 3, 2026, allowing players to create their own character and experience the final season's events.
