Dr Bawumia takes a stand against corruption

Former Vice President of Ghana and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has spoken out against corruption, warning that it diverts resources meant for the less fortunate in society. According to Dr Bawumia, "Corruption is an act that steals resources that could have otherwise been used to improve the well-being of the poor, the vulnerable, and the excluded in our society."

He made these remarks as part of the Pledge Against Corruption campaign, urging people to focus on their deeds and integrity rather than accumulating wealth and possessions. Dr Bawumia is among several prominent Ghanaian leaders who have taken the pledge against corruption, which is led by civil society organizations and funded by the UK International Development.

Other Pledge Against Corruption signatories, such as the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana and the President of the Ghana Medical Association, have also emphasized the moral and societal implications of corruption, calling for collective efforts to combat the issue.
