Dr Bawumia takes a stand against corruption

Former Vice President and NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has spoken out against corruption, emphasizing that it diverts resources from those who are most in need. At a Pledge Against Corruption event, Bawumia stressed that corruption steals from the poor, vulnerable, and excluded. He urged people to remember that wealth cannot be taken with them when they leave this world, and that their deeds and integrity are what truly matter.

Other prominent leaders and institutions, including the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, and the President of the Ghana Medical Association, Prof. Ernest Yorke, have also taken the pledge. Asamoah-Gyadu described corruption as a moral issue that has caused damage to society, while Yorke highlighted the impact of corruption on healthcare and the need for ordinary citizens to speak out against it.

Commissions like CHRAJ and the Ghana Medical Association have also joined the fight against corruption, emphasizing the pervasiveness of the issue and its detrimental effects on development, public services, and the social fabric of Ghanaian society.
