Dolly Parton to get new Hollywood star after vandalism

Fans paid their respects to the late country music icon Dolly Parton by laying flowers and candles on her newly dedicated Hollywood Walk of Fame star following her death last week. The star, dedicated in 1984, was tragically vandalized on Monday, leaving Parton's name badly defaced. President Donald Trump ordered flags on government buildings to be flown at half-staff in mourning for the beloved singer who passed away at the age of 80.

Fans from across the United States traveled to Parton's home state of Tennessee to pay homage to her decades-long career as a musician, philanthropist, and entrepreneur. Upon discovering the damage, the Hollywood Historic Trust, which maintains the stars along Hollywood Boulevard, cleared the tribute items in anticipation of scheduled repairs.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Hollywood Historic Trust announced on Instagram that a replacement star would be ready within days, and will be on display for the public to view this Friday.
