Delhi Police questions ex-bureaucrat Ashish Joshi over social media posts, released after 9 hours

On Wednesday, Delhi Police's Special Cell questioned former bureaucrat Ashish Joshi for approximately nine hours, following allegations related to his social media posts concerning the Election Commission of India (ECI). The police released him in the evening after individuals gathered outside the Counter Intelligence unit's office in New Friends Colony, demanding his release.

Joshi, a former Controller of Communications in the Department of Telecommunications, was taken from Chanakyapuri for questioning under Section 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to provocation leading to the apprehension of a riot. He had recently posted on social media about the ECI, prompting the police to verify his claims.

After questioning, Joshi was released, and several people gathered outside the office seeking his safe return. The incident was brought to light when Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit tweeted about Joshi's arrest while he was out for his morning walk in Nehru Park. Dikshit claimed he had tried to contact Joshi but received no response. Joshi later posted on X, confirming his release, and expressed a desire to provide further details.
