Dancehall star Kaakie earns doctorate in nursing, launches mental health practice in US

Ghanaian dancehall artist Kaakie, whose birth name is Grace Kaki Awo Ocansey, has achieved a remarkable milestone by earning a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and launching a mental health practice in the United States. Now professionally recognized as Dr. Grace Aidoo, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, she operates Kaylora Holistic Wellness & Recovery, a mental health service provider that offers a range of psychiatric and therapeutic services.

In her announcement, Kaakie emphasized her commitment to compassionate and tailored care, focusing on the unique circumstances of each client rather than solely diagnosing them. Her practice provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, ADHD care, treatment for anxiety and depression, bipolar disorder, trauma and PTSD support, psychotherapy, couples’ therapy, child and adolescent psychiatric care, as well as court-ordered psychiatric and DUI evaluations.

Kaylora also provides telehealth services. This transition from her dancehall career to healthcare marks a significant shift in Kaakie's professional journey, as she moved from nursing and midwifery at the University of Ghana to music stardom before returning to healthcare and pursuing further education. Her latest qualification, a Doctor of Nursing Practice, solidifies her role at the highest level of nursing education, positioning her as a dedicated healthcare entrepreneur and mental health advocate.
