Cops nab pickup truck driver in Sri Petaling cable theft car chase

Kuala Lumpur police have apprehended a 32-year-old man suspected of driving a pickup truck involved in a cable theft car chase on Monday. Police chief Fadil Marsus revealed that the suspect, who has a history of 20 criminal and six drug-related offenses, was detained and remanded for seven days to aid the investigation, according to Bernama.

The incident unfolded when the suspects, in a Ford Ranger, attempted to evade police officers patrolling the Kesas Highway. The chase ensued from the Awan Besar toll plaza towards Klang and Sri Petaling before the vehicle came to a halt near a petrol station in Sungai Besi. The suspects refused to exit and even attempted to ram the officers. In response, police fired five shots at the tires, causing the vehicle to lose control and crash into a car on Jalan Hang Tuah 4.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, authorities discovered various tools believed to have been utilized in the cable theft, along with several suspected stolen cables.
