Los Angeles has seen the second season of the US sports comedy "Chad Powers" take on a more enthralling tone, as the show's central secret is revealed to more characters. The series follows American football quarterback Russ Holliday, portrayed by actor Glen Powell, as he assumes the identity of Chad Powers and joins a struggling school team. Russ keeps his true identity hidden, but the secret is gradually unraveling.

Powell shared with Reuters that there's plenty of material to explore in this aspect of the story. The show was inspired by a viral YouTube sketch featuring Eli Manning, who disguised himself as a character called Chad Powers to try out for a college team.

Perry Mattfeld, who plays Ricky Hudson, the assistant coach for Russ/Chad's team, the South Georgia Catfish, noted that the relationship between Ricky and Russ is set to become more complex as the quarterback uncovers how his secret could impact her career. Mattfeld explained, "I think the stakes of her career weigh on Chad as well. I mean, I think he's aware of that and knows how bad things would be not only for his coach but for Ricky as well."

This season, Russ/Chad faces a crucial decision: whether to prioritize his own interests or the welfare of his friends. One such friend is Danny Cruz, portrayed by Frankie Rodriguez, who serves as the team's mascot and helps Russ maintain his disguise. Rodriguez commented on the evolution of Russ's character: "What's really fun in season two is seeing just how much Russ is changing and how he really does want to be a good person and a good friend.

It's really sweet." Mattfeld added, "Part of the heroic thing you see him doing in season two is really considering both Danny and Ricky in all of his choices." "Chad Powers" season two is set to premiere on Hulu and Disney+ on Thursday.
