Brighton agree £15m deal for Millwall winger Azeez

Brighton have successfully secured the signing of Nigerian winger Femi Azeez from Millwall in a deal worth £15 million. The 25-year-old player, who scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 37 games last season, was recognized by the PFA for his impressive performance, earning him a spot in the Championship team of the year.

Despite Millwall's resistance to at least three previous bids from the Seagulls, Azeez's transfer is anticipated to be a club record sale for Millwall. The club is expected to receive an initial payment of £12.5 million, which could increase beyond £15 million with various add-ons.

This move marks Brighton's 11th signing of the summer, including their club-record £45 million acquisition of Tottenham centre-back Luka Vuskovic. Additionally, the Seagulls have generated substantial revenue through player sales, with Carlos Baleba's £70 million transfer to Manchester United and the interest from Liverpool in winger Yankuba Minteh being notable examples. Azeez, who joined Millwall from Reading for approximately £1 million in 2024, will be completing his final two years of his contract with the team.
