Brighton agree £15m deal for Millwall winger Azeez

Brighton Football Club has reached a £15 million agreement to acquire Nigeria winger Femi Azeez from Millwall, with the total sum potentially exceeding £15 million through additional bonuses. The 25-year-old defender joins the club on a four-year contract, completing his move on deadline day and securing his position as the 11th signing of the summer transfer window for Brighton. This includes the record-breaking £45 million deal for Tottenham Hotspur center-back Luka Vuskovic, which was completed earlier in the summer.

Azeez, during the previous season, contributed 11 goals and 8 assists in 37 games for Millwall, earning a spot in the PFA Championship team of the year. The Nigeria international has been seeking a move to the Premier League, which Brighton has managed to secure despite Millwall's resistance to at least three bids from Brighton in recent weeks. Millwall have declared that the transfer of Azeez represents their club record sale.

The deal was formally agreed to before the transfer deadline on Tuesday at 23:00 BST, with the formalities completed before the extended deadline at 01:00 on Wednesday. Azeez started his professional career with Millwall after joining them from Reading for approximately £1 million in 2024. He is set to leave the club having completed two years of his contract.

In addition to Azeez, Brighton has also signed defensive midfielder Chema Andres from Stuttgart in a deal valued at £15.5 million. The 21-year-old Spain Under-21 international, whose contract at Stuttgart expired, has agreed to a five-year deal with the Brighton club. Andres, who began his career at Real Madrid's youth academy, made 41 appearances for Stuttgart last season after joining the German club from Real Madrid in 2025. His performances helped Stuttgart secure a place in the Champions League for the upcoming season.
