Bridge Over Lohit River Damaged, Many Border Villages In Arunachal Pradesh's Anjaw Cut Off | Video

A crucial Bailey bridge spanning the Lohit River in Arunachal Pradesh's Anjaw district has been damaged, disrupting access to several remote villages, including Kaho, situated near the India-China border. The KKG-BSB bridge at Krowti in Kibithoo Circle is a vital transportation route for Musai, Kaho, and Dong villages. Following the bridge's damage, Kaho has been cut off, as reported by local sources.

Arunachal Pradesh Women and Child Development Minister Dasanglu Pul, representing the Hayuliang Assembly constituency, has temporarily restricted movement across the bridge for public safety reasons. The minister attributes the damage to the repeated transportation of overloaded vehicles, despite the bridge's load-bearing capacity being clearly marked.

Pul emphasized in a social media post that the safety of the bridge is a shared responsibility, urging vehicle owners, drivers, commuters, and residents to strictly adhere to the prescribed load limits. She warned that negligence could endanger lives and damage crucial infrastructure that entire communities depend on. The authorities have been directed to inspect the damaged bridge and carry out necessary repair and restoration work as soon as possible.

Until the bridge is deemed safe, officials advise caution, adherence to traffic advisories, and the use of alternative routes wherever possible.
