Anthony Smith books Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA fight following felony domestic violence charges

Anthony Smith, a former UFC fighter, has accepted a fight with Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA promotion despite facing multiple felony domestic violence charges. The promotion, owned by Jorge Masvidal, announced that Smith will face Jordan Heiderman in a heavyweight tournament on October 2nd, airing on DAZN. This will be Smith's second fight with Gamebred FC, following his victory over Chase Sherman in April.

In July 2026, Smith was arrested in Nebraska and charged with attempted first-degree domestic assault, terroristic threats, and false imprisonment, stemming from an incident where he allegedly threatened to kill his wife, forced her into a car, and attempted to run her over with a vehicle. Gamebred FC president and COO Lex McMahon emphasized that Smith is entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence while his case proceeds through the courts.

McMahon also noted that Smith has a family to support and that competing provides financial stability. The promotion maintains that Smith is a loving husband and father, and it believes he deserves a fair hearing in court, not before speculation takes precedence.
