Ahmed Ibrahim describes ministerial reassignment as ‘divine intervention’

Ahmed Ibrahim, the former Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, has declared his recent reassignment to the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources as a clear example of divine intervention. This decision was part of President John Mahama's ministerial reshuffle, which took place on August 7, 2026. On September 1, during the transition ceremony for Mahama Ayariga, the new Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ibrahim shared his belief that this change was orchestrated by a higher power.

Ibrahim recounted the timing of his reassignment as a moment of divine guidance. He was delivering a sermon at the Global Evangelical Church on the day of the reshuffle announcement when the news reached him. At that moment, he was presented with a Bible, an object he now perceives as significant. The presence of the Christian Council at the ceremony further solidified his conviction that his reassignment was divinely ordained.

Speaking at the transition ceremony, Ibrahim expressed his gratitude for what he characterized as a meaningful coincidence. He emphasized that the series of events surrounding his move from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs to the new Ministry of Works, Housing, and Water Resources reinforced his belief that this was part of a larger, divine plan.

Ibrahim now assumes his responsibilities in the Ministry of Works, Housing, and Water Resources, while Mahama Ayariga takes up the post of Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs.
