Ahmed Ibrahim describes ministerial reassignment as ‘divine intervention’

Ahmed Ibrahim, the former Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, has referred to his transfer to the Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources as divine providence. The reshuffle occurred on August 7, 2026, following President John Mahama's announcement. Speaking at the handover ceremony for the new Local Government Minister, Mahama Ayariga, on September 1, Ibrahim noted that the timing and circumstances led him to believe that God had orchestrated the change.

He recounted being on the pulpit of the Global Evangelical Church on the day of the announcement when the news reached him, and he was presented with a Bible while still speaking. This event, coupled with the presence of the Christian Council at the ceremony, has solidified his conviction that his reassignment was a deliberate act of divine intervention.

Ibrahim expressed his gratitude for what he deemed a significant coincidence, emphasizing that these events have bolstered his belief that the reshuffle was part of a greater plan. He now oversees the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry, while Mahama Ayariga assumes the role of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister.
