4 Children Die After Family Picnic At Waterfall In MP's Shivpuri; Blood Samples Collected From 50 People

Four children perished after a picnic at a waterfall in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district, raising concerns over the safety of the area. The incident occurred on Sunday at Goratila village, where 15 members of two families had gathered for the outing. After bathing and eating at the waterfall, several family members, including children, began displaying symptoms of illness. Four children were rushed to the hospital in critical condition, tragically succumbing to their condition.

In response, the District Magistrate Arpit Verma ordered a thorough investigation into the matter. The Health Department subsequently dispatched two special medical teams to collect blood samples from 50 individuals, including the affected families and others who had come into contact with them. Water samples were also taken from the waterfall, to ascertain if it harbored any harmful agents or toxins.

The administration has since advised locals to refrain from using the waterfall water for drinking, bathing, or other domestic uses until the test results are available. The Red Cross Society has offered financial aid of ₹1.5 lakh to each of the four deceased children's families. Authorities have stated that a definitive cause of the children's deaths will be determined once the blood and water test results are in, and health teams are continuing to monitor the community for any similar symptoms.
