2027: Tunji-Ojo’s Massive Mobilization for President Tinubu

In the lead-up to Nigeria's 2027 presidential election, Minister of Interior Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has been instrumental in bolstering President Bola Tinubu's campaign through strategic mobilization efforts. These actions come as a response to opposition candidate Atiku Abubakar's claims that Nigeria's borders could be reopened, which Tunji-Ojo promptly dismissed with factual evidence and data.

Atiku argued that closing the land borders with Benin Republic, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon had negatively impacted cross-border trade, businesses, and employment. However, Tunji-Ojo corrected this narrative by highlighting the reopening of border posts in 2020, 2022, and 2026. He also clarified that the Banki and Amchidé crossings were not part of the 2019 trade-policy closures, as they were opened in 2014 and 2021 due to security threats from Boko Haram.

Tunji-Ojo's expertise and record of achievements have made him a credible figure in Nigerian politics, and his role in reinforcing President Tinubu's leadership is crucial. By marshaling logic, science, data, and a history of verifiable achievements, he effectively counters opposition arguments and strengthens the administration's credibility.

Tunji-Ojo's mobilization efforts in Ondo State exemplify his strategy of leveraging grassroots support to reshape the election narrative. He has sponsored or supported groups like the Asiwaju Mandate Group (AMG) and BTO4PBAT, which have focused on mobilizing women, students, and young people. The latter specifically targeted securing 95 percent support among women in Ondo State.

Additionally, Tunji-Ojo has empowered campaign volunteers with campaign buses and financial resources to facilitate community outreach and grassroots mobilization across Ondo State's 18 local government areas, 203 wards, and 3,933 polling units. This localized and targeted approach aims to translate the minister's political network into votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
