Vancouver Whitecaps sign Guinean forward Diaby, Angolan defender Modesto

Vancouver Whitecaps have signed two new players, Guinean forward Yadaly Diaby and Angolan defender Rui Modesto.

Diaby, 26, joins the 'Caps on a one-year deal, starting from the 2026-27 MLS season, with an option to extend through the 2029-30 campaign. The transfer sees him move from French Ligue 2 side Grenoble Foot 38, where he scored three goals and provided one assist in 21 appearances. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 170 pounds, Diaby looks set to bolster the Whitecaps' attacking options.

Modesto, also 26, is brought in from Italy's Serie A club Udinese. As a right back, he has played 10 times for Serie B side Palermo this season, contributing a goal and an assist. His contract with the Whitecaps also extends to the 2029-30 season, with an option to continue through the following year.
