UAE minister meets Lebanese delegation to share government modernisation expertise

Lebanon dispatched a delegation to Dubai to acquire insights into the UAE's approach to government modernisation, artificial intelligence, and future-readiness. At the head of the UAE delegation was Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed Al Gergawi, who welcomed the visit and emphasized the UAE's dedication to sharing its governmental expertise with allied countries.

In a statement, Al Gergawi highlighted that sharing successful experiences "shortens development distances and contributes to building more efficient, flexible and future-ready governments capable of turning challenges and changes into opportunities."

The Lebanese delegation consisted of Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Bsat, and Kamal Shehadeh, who serves as Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, as well as Minister of the Displaced. Organized by the Government Knowledge Exchange Office within the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, the visit aimed to introduce the Lebanese delegation to various UAE government initiatives focused on artificial intelligence, strategic planning, zero bureaucracy, smart government services, future foresight, innovation, and institutional excellence.

Al Gergawi described the exchange as an extension of the close ties between the two nations, expressing optimism that it would lead to new opportunities for practical cooperation aligned with Lebanon's government priorities. The visit is part of the UAE's Government Knowledge Exchange Programme, an initiative established in 2018 to share best practices and expertise with friendly and allied nations.

Since its inception, the programme has forged partnerships with numerous countries across sectors such as government modernisation, strategic planning, service development, and capacity building.

Al Gergawi underscored that the UAE's approach to knowledge sharing aligns with directives from the country's leadership, which views inter-governmental cooperation as a key driver of accelerated development. The visit to Lebanon is viewed as a means of supporting the nation's institutional modernisation efforts while simultaneously strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
