Tucson police investigate deadly shooting outside gay bar as hate crime

A shooting outside a gay bar in Tucson, Arizona has left three people dead as authorities investigate it as a possible hate crime. The victims - Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, 42, and Cameron Davis Capara, 33 - were killed in the parking lot of Venture-N bar shortly after midnight on Monday. Police say the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Ousman Ceesay, also suffered gunshot wounds before he died in a local hospital.

Initial evidence suggests that the suspect confronted the victims before opening fire, according to Tucson police. The Tucson police department is currently treating the incident as a hate crime investigation, though the case remains open. Tucson police chief Monica Prieto said the department is "committed to ensuring every member of our community feels safe, valued and welcomed."

Peter Loya, a long-time friend of one of the victims, described Siqueiros as a thoughtful and considerate person who always looked for the best in people. Fellow Capara was remembered by his friend Drew Fellows as a revolutionary photographer with a people-first mentality, always fighting for a better future. Tucson mayor Regina Romero called the shooting a "direct and devastating attack" on the LGBTQ+ community, calling for stronger gun safety policies to prevent future attacks.
