Real Madrid's star defender, Raul Asencio, has opted to stay with the team, thwarting Jose Mourinho's intentions to offload him. The club's attempts to persuade him to leave have been unsuccessful, despite their efforts to sign another defender before the transfer period expires. Asencio, who began his senior career with the Spanish giants' youth system, has made 80 appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
Currently 23 years old, he is not part of Mourinho's future plans, prompting the Spanish giants to search for potential buyers. Despite this, Asencio remains committed to the club, making it unlikely that Los Blancos will secure a new centre-back before the transfer deadline.
