Tottenham sign Chelsea pair Mudryk and Tosin

Tottenham have bolstered their squad by signing winger Mykhailo Mudryk and defender Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea on transfer deadline day. Mudryk, a 25-year-old Ukrainian, will join the North London team on a short-term loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to make it permanent for £75m. Meanwhile, Adarabioyo, a 28-year-old center-back, has completed a permanent move worth up to £12m to Spurs.

The signing of Mudryk reunites him with Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi, who managed him at Shakhtar Donetsk before his transfer to Chelsea in 2023. Mudryk expressed his excitement about joining the club, highlighting his speed and creativity and his desire to contribute to both attacking and defensive efforts. He also mentioned his appreciation for the strong squad at Spurs and his hope to create memorable moments with them.

Adarabioyo's move makes him the club's 10th signing during a busy summer, with Tottenham spending over £300m on transfers. The former England Under-19 international praised De Zerbi's management style, stating that it aligns with his approach of playing with courage. He had made 70 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Fulham in summer 2024.

Tottenham's pre-season tour of Australia and Asia saw Mudryk return in a friendly against Juventus in Hong Kong, though he was not included in the squad for several crucial league matches. De Zerbi expressed confidence in Mudryk's potential, stating that he has the ability to change games with his speed and one-vs-one skills. He expects Mudryk to become an important player for the team, urging him to reach his best version.

Mudryk's journey at Tottenham has been marked by challenges, including a four-year doping ban and a difficult period following his move from Chelsea in 2023. However, he has now returned to competition and is set to make his debut for Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
