Three killed as Proton Aeroback plunges into ravine on Lahad Datu forest road

LAHAD DATU, Sep 1 — A tragic accident claimed the lives of three men and left another injured when their Proton Aeroback careened out of control and plummeted into a ravine on Jalan Hutan Simpan Bagahak, the Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station chief Sumsoa Rashid reported. Upon receiving an emergency call at 7.38 pm, the rescue team arrived at the scene roughly thirty-eight minutes later.

According to Sumsoa, the incident involved a Proton Aeroback that allegedly lost traction while negotiating a curve, plummeting five meters into a ravine. "Three adult males have been confirmed dead by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) who were also present at the scene," he said in a statement. "Another adult male sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital via an MOH ambulance for further medical attention."

The bodies of the deceased victims were handed over to the police for further investigation, and the search and rescue operation concluded by 8.45 pm.
