Thailand’s Pattaya anticipates USS Abraham Lincoln visit following its Middle East deployment

Pattaya, Thailand (AP) — A large American military vessel is set to visit the coastal city of Pattaya, known for its beaches and nightlife, as part of its return from a lengthy Middle East deployment. The USS Abraham Lincoln, an aircraft carrier, will make a port call near the city, bringing over 5,000 American service members, including those from the USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. destroyer that will also dock at a different location.

The city's mayor, Poramet Ngampichet, hopes this visit will boost Pattaya's economy and promote the city as an important vacation spot. City officials have warned local businesses not to overcharge the service members and increased police presence in popular areas along Pattaya Beach and Walking Street.
