South Korea to send 44-member disaster relief team to Nepal after floods

South Korea is sending a 44-person emergency relief team to Nepal to aid search-and-rescue efforts following severe flooding in the Rasuwa region, according to the country's foreign ministry. The deployment comes after Nepal requested assistance for the disaster response. Consisting of officials from the ministry and fire agency, the team is scheduled to depart for Nepal on a military transport plane on Tuesday and will remain in the country for roughly ten days.

Prior to this deployment, South Korea had already sent a rapid response team to Nepal in the wake of last week's devastating floods, which were aimed at searching for nine missing South Korean workers at a hydropower project. However, the team's initial efforts to reach the affected area were hindered by flight restrictions imposed by the Nepalese military.

Once clearance was granted, the rapid response team commenced aerial search operations over the suspected site starting August 29, as reported by South Korean media.
