#SHOWBIZ: Veteran actress Kara Wai suffers six fractures during filming of newest movie

Hong Kong's action heroine Kara Wai, renowned for her performance in the Malaysian film Mrs K, recently endured a harrowing incident while filming her latest movie, Keep The Beat. The 66-year-old martial arts star suffered six fractures during the production of her current project, according to AsiaOne.

During a crucial scene with Chinese actor Zhang Youhao, 31, a typhoon intervened, causing Zhang's safety rope to snap while he was suspended four stories above the ground. Kara, displaying remarkable courage, immediately reached out to grab the safety rope and pulled Zhang to safety. However, the force of their collision resulted in six fractures for Wai.

Zhang expressed his gratitude, saying, "If Kara hadn't reached out and grabbed me, the consequences would have been unimaginable." In addition to the fractures, Wai also fractured two ribs during rehearsals and two toes while performing a dance scene.

Born as Betty Wai during her youth, the actress has garnered numerous accolades, winning multiple Hong Kong Film Awards and Golden Horse Awards. Keep The Beat chronicles the story of a dance teacher portrayed by Wai, who is grappling with the loss of her son when a stranger, played by Zhang, enters her life. As she discovers that the man is the recipient of her late son's organs, Wai must face an unexpected harsh reality.
