Seni Jaya unit bags seven-year RTS Link advertising concession

KUALA LUMPUR: Seni Jaya Corp Bhd's subsidiary SJX Media Sdn Bhd has secured a seven-year advertising media pact for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link). On September 1, SJX Media signed an agreement with Malaysia Rapid Transit System Sdn Bhd (MRTS) to handle the design, construction, operation, and transfer of advertising media facilities along the RTS Link route.

This agreement grants SJX Media exclusive rights to manage advertising spaces within the RTS Link, covering all aspects from procurement to maintenance. The deal will span seven years, with an option for extension by MRTS for an additional three years. Prior to the system's launch, SJX Media will handle all pre-operational tasks, including planning, design, procurement, and installation, at its own expense.

The pre-operational phase must conclude within three months of the agreement's legal validity. Upon the system's opening, SJX Media will make regular payments to MRTS, including a minimum annual guarantee and revenue-sharing. This concession is anticipated to positively impact the company's financials, including earnings, earnings per share, net assets per share, and gearing.

The deal does not affect Seni Jaya's share capital or the holdings of its major shareholders. SJX Media, founded in October 2025, is 70% owned by Seni Jaya Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Seni Jaya, and the remaining 30% is held by Southern XMedia Sdn Bhd. MRTS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd, was established to manage the RTS Link's construction and commercial activities at the stations, including the advertising spaces.
