Search for fisherman off Pulau Tenggol ends with no clues found

Dungun, September 1 — The search and rescue operation for missing fisherman Sabrie Rusli, 32, who disappeared after his boat capsized in waters off Pulau Tenggol, was terminated yesterday without any leads or findings, according to Kemaman Maritime Zone Director Maritime Commander Abdul Halim Hamzah. The exhaustive search, spanning approximately 801.22 square nautical miles, encompassed multiple methods such as surface searches, sonar, diving, and the deployment of a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to uncover any potential evidence connected to the victim.

Despite thorough examination of all designated search areas, no clues or discoveries were made that could aid in locating the missing fisherman. Abdul Halim revealed that the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) extended gratitude to all participating agencies, rescue teams, and stakeholders for their cooperation throughout the operation.

Even though the search has been halted, MMEA assets will maintain vigilance in the area via routine patrols, should any new information or discovery emerge concerning the victim. Initially, Bernama reported that Sabrie was presumed missing following a capsizing incident in Pulau Tenggol's waters at 5 p.m. the previous Thursday.
