Rincon de la Victoria hands out 1,100kg of free fried anchovies at six-day fiesta

Rincon de la Victoria is hosting a week-long Fiesta del Boqueron Victoriano from September 8th to 13th, offering free fried and vinegar-cured anchovies to 67 local bars and restaurants. The event features live cook-offs, workshops, and a popular pickled-anchovy contest. Sabor a Malaga's food fair will also visit Plaza Al-Andalus from September 11th to 13th, featuring 32 producers from across the province.

The town now has 57 eateries in the Boqueron Victoriano network, up from 42 last year, with 20 located in Rincon and its neighboring barrios. Over 1,100 kilos of anchovies were purchased for the free portions, served between 1pm to 2:30pm and 8:30pm to 10pm daily until supplies run out. The event includes traditional fishing techniques demonstrations, puppet theatre, and a fishermen's breakfast at the rowing club.

This six-day food fiesta is unique to Malaga province and holds official provincial tourist-interest status.
