Remembering former Tennessee football assistant coach Kippy Brown

Former Tennessee football assistant coach Kippy Brown has passed away at the age of 71. Tennessee announced his death on Tuesday, expressing their deepest condolences to his family, friends, and former players. Brown served as the wide receivers coach for the University of Tennessee three times, from 1983-89, 1993-94, and 2009. He played college football at Memphis and was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.

Brown established "Wide Receiver U" at Tennessee, a program dedicated to honing the skills of wide receivers. In addition to his work at Tennessee, Brown also coached in the NFL, winning Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seattle Seahawks. He had stints coaching with the Jets, Tampa Bay, Miami, Green Bay, Houston, and Detroit.

Brown played in the XFL with Memphis in 2001, achieving a 5-5 record. He also coached at Memphis, Louisville, and the University of Tennessee.
