Rahul Gandhi to visit Nashik on Wed; his 2nd trip to Maharashtra in 11 days

Karnataka Minister HD Kumaraswamy intensified his criticism of the state government on Monday, labeling the KPSC recruitment scandal a national embarrassment and urging Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to address the matter in person in Bengaluru. Kumaraswamy argued that the controversy is tarnishing Karnataka's reputation. He demanded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi speak out on the issue, emphasizing that he cannot remain silent in the face of allegations.

The ongoing controversy revolves around irregularities in the recruitment of Assistant Executive Engineers (Grade-I) and Veterinary Officers, including claims that candidates took exams at resorts and that OMR sheets were tampered with. IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar has been arrested in connection with the case, which is currently under scrutiny by the Karnataka High Court, where 12 hearings have already been held.

Kumaraswamy accused Home Minister Priyank Kharge of being unable to distance himself from the case, as the recruitment process fell under his purview as the Rural Development Minister. He also questioned the appointment of former KPSC Chairman Shyam Bhat. The Home Minister has demanded concrete evidence from Kumaraswamy to substantiate the allegations and has not issued any fresh response to the minister's Monday remarks.
