Pennsylvania police officer charged with voluntary manslaughter in killing of college student

Upper Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania police officer Sean Farrell has been charged with voluntary manslaughter following the fatal shooting of Glenwood Earl Pysher IV, a college student, on August 23. Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele announced the charges, stating that Pysher knocked on the wrong door after leaving a bar with friends, leading to a quick interaction with Farrell and a shooting that Steele deemed unjustified.

Pysher was reportedly unarmed and not a threat, as evidenced by body camera footage showing Farrell ordering him to put his hands up and drop to the ground, a scenario Steele claimed did not match the officer's later account of Pysher charging at him. Pysher's parents, described by Steele as a good kid loved by the community, are struggling to comprehend why their son was taken away.

Farrell surrendered to Montgomery County detectives and is scheduled to be arraigned later that evening.
