Pakistan Hosts Best of ASCO 2026, Bringing the Latest Global Cancer Advances to Local Practice

The Society of Medical Oncology–Pakistan (SMO-P) successfully hosted the officially licensed Best of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2026 Annual Meeting from August 28-30, 2026, in Lahore. This event convened leading oncology experts from Pakistan and around the world to discuss the most recent advancements in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

The primary aim was to bridge the gap between cutting-edge global cancer science and its implementation within Pakistan's healthcare system. Pakistan is grappling with substantial obstacles in cancer care, such as unequal access to specialists and innovative therapies. By bringing international specialists and the latest evidence to Pakistani healthcare professionals, the conference offered a platform to enhance education and explore how these advancements can be practically applied in local medical practice.

The meeting delved into several critical topics, including equitable access to novel cancer medicines, the complexities of introducing new therapies, multidisciplinary cancer care, immunotherapy in cancer patients, and the process of translating clinical research findings into routine oncology practice.
