Packers GM Breaks Silence on Josh Jacobs’ Potential NFL Suspension

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is currently under scrutiny for a potential NFL suspension following an alleged off-field incident involving a woman back in May. As the league conducts a review of the case, Jacobs has been placed on the NFL's commissioner exempt list. On Tuesday, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst provided his initial remarks about the situation during a press conference.

When questioned about Jacobs' availability for this season, Gutekunst stated, "I think that's to be seen. I'm certainly hopeful that he will. I certainly would expect that, but we're going to let this process play out and we'll be prepared either way."

Gutekunst further elaborated on the Packers' running back depth situation, mentioning MarShawn Lloyd, Chris Brooks, and Kaleb Johnson as options should Jacobs face suspension. Head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that Jacobs will remain at the team's facilities throughout his time on the commissioner exempt list. The Green Bay Packers are set to kick off their 2026 season with a Week 1 game against the Minnesota Vikings on September 13.
