NSMQ 2026: Achimota School shatters Adisadel’s semi-final hopes to book penultimate spot

Adisadel College’s hopes for the semi-finals of the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) came to a disappointing end as they were outmatched by Achimota School. The quiz started with Adisadel trailing Achimota by just one point, but the margin widened significantly throughout the contest.

Achimota School surged ahead in Round Two, scoring 25 points compared to Adisadel’s 18 and Boa Amponsem SHS’s 13. The True or False round dealt another setback to Adisadel, who failed to answer any questions correctly while Achimota answered every single one. This established a clear gap between the two schools.

Adisadel’s problems persisted in Round Three, where they scored zero while Achimota maintained their lead at 33 points. The school had one more chance with the Riddle Round, but they only answered one riddle, further crippling their chances. By Round Four, Achimota had amassed 49 points, while Adisadel only managed 25 points and Boa Amponsem 20 points.

The final round offered no miracle for Adisadel. The scoreboard revealed the final scores: Achimota School with 55 points, Adisadel College with 28 points, and Boa Amponsem SHS with 23 points. Adisadel’s dream of reaching the semi-finals was shattered with a 27-point defeat, ending their hopes of advancing. In contrast, Achimota School secured the penultimate spot in the semi-finals, turning an initially tight contest into a decisive victory.
