NPP begins vetting of 47 aspirants

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) commenced vetting of 47 candidates vying for various positions in the party's 2026 National Officers Elections on September 1, 2026. This four-day exercise, orchestrated by the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC), aims to conclude on September 3, 2026. The vetting process, outlined in a statement by committee chairman Frederick Opare-Ansah, started on the first day when candidates for National Vice Chairperson, National Organiser and National Youth Organiser positions appeared before the Vetting Committee.

Three candidates failed to submit their nomination forms, thus failing to qualify. Among those who withdrew from the race were Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who had sought to contest the National Chairperson position, and Evans Kodom, who had aimed for the National Communications Director position. Only three candidates are expected to face the Vetting Committee on the final day - those contesting National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer positions. The committee emphasized its dedication to a fair, transparent and credible election process.
